Basu suffers multiple organ failure

The 95 year old CPI-M patriarch Jyoti Basu's health has deteriorated over the past few days and his condition is said to be extremely critical, says the doctors attending him at the private hospital in kolkatta where he is admitted. Except for the heart, the functioning of most other organs have failed. He has been put on ventilator support after suffering a pneumonia attack early in January. On Saturday doctors have said that he had suffered multile organ failure and undergoing dialysis.
