Comrade forever: Somnath
Monday 2 March 2009
With curtains down for LS speaker Somnath Chatterjee, the retirement for the WB leader from active politics also comes with a series of eventful experiences.
Sharing hs experience as the LS Speaker, Chatterjee felt the cash for votes scam ahead of the trust vote turned out to be the most unfortunate incident during his tenure. And the worst personal blow was when his party CPM expelled him for not quiting the Speakers post.
However he still considers that he is a communist and remarked that he would remain as a comrade forever. He also ruled out of contesting for elections again. --MP
