CPI(M) caught in Tapasi case
Wednesday 12 November 2008
The ruling West Bengal governmnet was caught in an awkward situation with two of its CPI(M) leaders being convicted in the murder case of Tapasi Malik, a teenager who was found murdered at Singur land in 2006.
Tapasi was a party worker of the Trinamool and was against the proposed Nano project. Welcoming the verdict, the main opposition party Trinamool Congress has demanded that the CM should step down and has no moral right to continue in power. Meanwhile the CPI(M) reacting to this has said that it would go for appeal in the HC. --MP
