Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting P R Dasmunsi has been appointed as West Bengal's Congress chief.
The appointment of the new PCC chief has bought excitement among the party workers who are hopeful that the party would perform better in the local polls under the new chief's leadership.
"There was no leader who could spearhead the party in the state. It required leadership and it's good a leader like him is ready to take the mantle of the state congress," said Cong MP, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury who believes that it would help the party take on the ruling CPI-M in the forhcoming panchayat elections.
