Phalke award for Tapan Sinha

Renowned Bengali filmmaker Tapan Sinha has been chosen for the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the year 2006.
The award given for his lifetime contribution to Indian cinema carries cash price of Rs 1 million, a Swarna Kamal citation and a shawl. His films have won a number of National Film Awards and has been recognised with international awards as well. Besides Bengali films, he has also made Hindi and Oriya films. --MP
